Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking forgiving battles may hit a wall when losses permanently affect later encounters and the story.

- Players looking for combat without substantial narrative decisions may find the story-driven battle structure a poor fit.
Our take on Pendragon: Narrative Tactics
Players who rely on keeping every character alive will hit the main wall when a battle demands a sacrifice. The game carries losses into later encounters, so cautious roster preservation can give way to permanent changes in both the party and the unfolding Arthurian story.
What is Pendragon: Narrative Tactics?
Pendragon: Narrative Tactics is a turn-based strategy game set in Dark Ages Britain after Camelot falls.
Players choose a leader, gather knights, heroes, and peasants, and travel across a randomized board toward Camlann. Battles use character positioning, movement, retreats, direct encounters, and sacrifices, with losses carrying consequences into later encounters. Characters speak during movement, develop abilities and dispositions, and form relationships as the story changes. Decisions made during battles affect the narrative, including alliances, deaths, betrayals, and the fate of King Arthur. Each replay uses a new board and can produce different story developments involving figures such as Lancelot, Guinevere, Morgana le Fay, and Sir Gawaine.
