Where the information comes from
Every entry starts from the game’s public Steam store data: its description, genres and tags, listed features, supported platforms and release date. Platforms and dates are shown as they were on Steam at the last check (currently Oct 20, 2026). NayPlay does not show prices, because they change often; the Download Now button always opens the game’s live store page, where you can choose how to get it.
What AI does
A large language model drafts each fit check from that store data, in a fixed format: a three-point “Play it if you…” list, a two-to-four-point “Skip it if you…” list, a short “Our take” note, a plain description, the main features and, where there is a clear comparison, how the game differs from similar games. The model is instructed to stick to what the store data supports, to write the “Skip it if you…” list as honestly as the “Play it if you…” list, and to avoid hype, scores borrowed from user reviews and claims about things the data does not say.
What a person checks
William Sims, the editor, reviews fit checks by spot-checking them against the game’s store page: whether the description matches the game, whether the “Skip it if you…” points are fair and specific, and whether anything is invented. Entries that fail are corrected or rewritten. Not every one of the 45,294 entries is read by a person before it is published, which is why corrections from readers matter.
What we do not claim
- We have not played every game in the catalogue. A fit check is a structured summary of what the game offers and who it is likely to suit, not a hands-on review.
- “Our take” is an editorial note drafted from the game’s description and features. It is not a verdict from someone who has finished the game.
- Lists such as “Games like…” are picked automatically by overlapping fit notes and genres, and say so on the page.
- No developer or publisher can pay for, see in advance or approve a fit check. Affiliate links, where they exist, have no influence on what a fit check says.
Fit score
Where a game shows a fit score, it is an editorial rating from 1 to 5 of how well the game delivers what it sets out to do for the players in its “Play it if you…” list. It is not an average of Steam user reviews, and it is never imported from another site.
Corrections
If something is wrong, out of date or unfair, please tell us through Contact & corrections with a link to the game’s page. Confirmed errors are fixed in the next update of the catalogue.
