Our take on TR-49
Instead of using exploration, combat, or inventory puzzles as its main structure, TR-49 makes an archive the central play space. Progress comes from connecting obscure writings and following an evolving spoken conversation, turning deduction into the primary form of interaction.
What is TR-49?
TR-49 is a narrative deduction game presented through an audio drama.
A WWII-era computer in a church basement contains decades of books, letters, and journals collected by its creators, Bletchley Park engineers Cecil Caulderly and Beatrice Dooler. Players navigate the archive, connect obscure texts, trace hidden sources, and investigate the machine’s history. Conversations with a handler change as exploration progresses. The central task is to locate a stolen book and destroy the volume at the heart of the computer before it is too late. The game includes voiced performances and an original soundtrack, and is built for Steam Deck.
