Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy side-scrolling shooters with careful positioning to collect level items
- Retro-style action fans who prefer a green-on-black pseudo-vector visual presentation
- Players who want changing item placements across repeated sessions
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a shooter without collection-focused movement may hit a wall when levels require gathering all necessary data cells.
- Players who prefer fixed routes may find the changing cell placements disruptive when starting a new session.
- Players looking for a game centered on crafting or survival systems may find its described scope focused on shooting, positioning, and data collection.
Our take on WireNet
The likely bounce point is the cell-collection requirement: players who expect to focus only on shooting may stall when careful positioning and gathering every required data cell become central to progressing through a level.
What is WireNet?
WireNet is a minimalistic side-scrolling shooter with a green-on-black pseudo-vector display.
Players move through isometric levels, position carefully to gather the required data cells, and face enemies and bosses trying to stop the intrusion. Each new session rearranges the cells across the levels. Some cells contain viruses: stronger viruses weaken the player, while weaker ones make the player stronger. The setting presents the action as an intrusion into neuro-cybernetic systems using retro-VR technology, with the goal of reaching the NeuroCore.
How WireNet plays
- 01Rearranged data cells
- Cell locations change between sessions, so routes through the levels vary.
- 02Virus effects
- Collecting a virus can either weaken or strengthen the player depending on its power.
- 03Enemy and boss encounters
- Opponents defend the network intrusion as the player advances.
