Void Source is a multidirectional shoot 'em up in which players guide a UFO through dangerous stages filled with continuous enemy attacks.

Environments include underwater areas, volcanoes, space, dark caves, and railroads. The game includes 25 weapons, with duplicate weapons combining to increase power. Between levels, a technology tree allows development of additional weapons. Large bosses provide major encounters, while a separate boss rush mode focuses on repeated boss battles.
