We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players interested in abstract simulations who prefer decisions based on sparse numerical information
- Fans of text-only console games who want a small-scale interactive experience
- Players curious about art-games that withhold visible events and conventional goals
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking visible battles or direct accounts of events may find the presentation too opaque.
- Those wanting a broad command set or complex interaction may find the single interactive screen restrictive.
- Players looking for a conventional objective or recorded progress may not find the structure suitable.
Our take on W4RR-i/o-RS
The text-only format concentrates the game on choices and numerical results, but sacrifices visible action and clear explanations of consequences. Its design treats uncertainty as the central constraint rather than presenting a conventional battle simulation.
What is W4RR-i/o-RS?
W4RR-i/o-RS is an art-game simulation presented through a retro-style text console.
Players direct an arena of warrior robots, deciding the order of battles or whether battles occur at all. The game provides no visual account of events, leaving decisions to be made from sparse numerical information. A losing warrior loses one symbol from its name, while both warriors gain experience unless matching power collisions prevent a battle. Warriors are reassembled when they become too old or have no symbols left, and retain their previous experience after reassembly. The game uses three text screens, one interactive, with three commands available on that screen, including an exit command. Time can also be advanced, increasing every warrior’s age.
