Play it if you…
Good fit- Adventure-game players who want a Western story shaped by decisions.
- Players who prefer traveling with companions whose relationships affect the story.
- Fans of inventory-based situations with multiple possible solutions.
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking action-focused gameplay may find the emphasis on story, choices and character encounters too slow.
- Those who prefer a fixed sequence of events may not enjoy randomized encounters and outcomes shaped by previous decisions.
- Players looking for a story without inventory-based situations may not suit its puzzle structure.
Our take on Rosewater
The emphasis on narrative choices and companion relationships gives up a purely action-led structure. Randomized encounters also make the journey less fixed, with situations and outcomes changing according to earlier decisions and available resources.
What is Rosewater?
Rosewater follows Harley Leger, a freelance writer who arrives in the border town of Rosewater after leaving New Bretagne.
A local newspaper assignment leads her to search for a missing man’s fortune across Western Vespuccia. Harley travels with five companions and encounters bandits, rebels, visionaries, eccentrics and other characters. Choices affect the story, while companion relationships influence its direction. Randomized encounters produce situations and outcomes shaped by earlier decisions and available resources. Inventory-based situations can have multiple solutions according to play style. The game includes rotoscoped animation, cinematic closeups, 1280x720 graphics, a music score by Mark Benis featuring live instruments, and more than 60 voiced characters.
