Our take on Iron Front: Digital War Edition
Rather than staying solely in a soldier's viewpoint, the game shifts between first-person combat and third-person command. Its battlefield structure also combines infantry, tanks and aircraft, replacing the usual single-role shooter format with control across several layers of war.
What is Iron Front: Digital War Edition?
Iron Front: Digital War Edition is a World War II tactical shooter and simulation set during the 1944 fighting in Poland and Normandy.
Players can fight as German, Soviet or Allied forces across two campaigns, taking the role of a frontline soldier in first person or a commander in third person. Battles combine infantry, tanks, aircraft and troop commands across large battlefields. The game includes more than 35 vehicles and planes, period weapons and adjustable settings ranging from shooter-focused play to tactical control. Single-player, cooperative and player-versus-player multiplayer modes are included, along with missions, an editor and the D-Day scenario featuring Omaha Beach, American troops, landing craft, Sherman tanks and P-47 aircraft.
