Is Toy Soldiers: HD worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Action-strategy players who want to alternate between commanding armies and piloting individual units
- World War I history and miniature battlefield fans who want trench-based combat in toy dioramas
- Players seeking weapon variety that includes artillery, infantry, tanks, aircraft and flamethrowers
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a slow, purely strategic command layer may hit a wall when direct control of soldiers and vehicles becomes part of the battle
- Players wanting a realistic World War I simulation may bounce off the toy-diorama presentation, oversized bosses and arcade-style action
- Players looking for a single focused unit type may find the mixed arsenal and perspective switching too broad
Our take on Toy Soldiers: HD
The likely bounce point is the shift between overhead command and direct control. Players comfortable with choosing placements may hit a wall when success requires entering individual soldiers, tanks or aircraft, while those expecting a straightforward action game may face the added burden of managing a wider battlefield.
What is Toy Soldiers: HD?
Toy Soldiers: HD is an action-strategy game set in miniature World War I battlefields modeled as European trench dioramas.
Players defend their Toybox by placing infantry, cavalry, tanks, planes, artillery, flamethrowers, gas weapons and other military units. The game supports two command perspectives: overseeing the battlefield from above or taking direct control of selected units and machines. Players can follow fired projectiles to their targets through the Shell-Cam feature, drive tanks, fly aircraft and fight large enemy bosses. This HD edition adds new content, skins, gameplay, game modes, controls and graphics, while including the original downloadable content and additional levels.
