Our take on Home Wars
Rather than keeping strategy at a single distance, the game shifts between turn-based headquarters decisions and real-time fighting. It also lets the commander enter a chosen unit’s first-person view, replacing detached battlefield oversight with direct participation.
What is Home Wars?
Home Wars casts the player as a general leading toy soldiers against bugs invading a house.
Its campaign alternates between two phases: a turn-based Home Mode for managing headquarters, recruiting troops, buying ammunition, spying, researching units, and positioning armies, and a real-time Battle Mode for direct combat. Infantry, vehicles, artillery, and aircraft can attack enemy forces, while defensive structures and traps protect outposts, trucks, and supply crates. Missions include room-by-room assaults, convoy attacks, aerial engagements, and recon-squad rescues. Bugs gather food to create swarms and develop their nest. A technology tree unlocks units through battlefield experience, while ammunition types and individualized shot characteristics shape weapon choices.

Home Wars compared to similar games
Dungeon Defenders: Awakened combines cooperative action RPG play with tower defense, including loot, leveling, pets, and character customization, while Home Wars uses turn-based preparation followed by real-time battles and manages ammunition, technology, and mixed military units. Anomaly: Warzone Earth also blends action and strategy, but its listed premise reverses tower defense around an alien assault, whereas Home Wars centers on commanding toy soldiers, building defenses, and fighting bugs across varied missions.
