Our take on Tempest Tower
Rather than keeping the player behind a defensive line, Tempest Tower places movement, direct fighting, and rescue tasks inside the tower-defense loop. Its alternating construction and action phases replace a continuous placement structure with separate planning and combat windows.
What is Tempest Tower?
Tempest Tower combines tower defense with platforming movement and direct combat.
During Build Phases, players explore the map and construct a base; during Action Phases, they battle Creeper hordes while collecting resources and guiding local critters to safety. Defenses include ranged Bug Blasters, traps, trampolines, and shield bubbles that reflect damage. Flora provides additional tools, including explosive Bomb-Berries, luring Bait Bulbs, and Glide Leaves for crossing chasms. Before each level, players customize a loadout, choose contraptions and upgrades, and create item combinations. Difficulty modifiers and level challenges provide additional ways to play, while repeated attempts refine defensive layouts, economic choices, and combat decisions.
