Our take on Windbound
The focus on solitary survival and open-ended island travel gives up the broader social systems found in party-driven RPGs. Much of the journey depends on gathering materials, crafting equipment, and maintaining a boat before moving onward.
What is Windbound?
Windbound follows Kara, a warrior separated from her tribe by a storm and stranded on the Forbidden Islands.
Starting without a boat, food, or equipment, she searches the islands for materials, makes tools and weapons, hunts wildlife, and defends herself against fantastical creatures. Exploration extends across multiple islands with varied environments, animals, hazards, and scattered ruins. Resources support survival and boat improvements, while dwindling supplies require Kara to travel onward by sea. A custom sailing vessel carries her between islands and must withstand strong winds, large waves, and dangerous sea creatures. Investigating the islands’ history reveals mysteries, past events, and possible clues to finding her way home.
