Is Evertried worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Strategy players who want grid-based combat with enemy movement tied to each action
- Rogue-lite players who enjoy repeated tower climbs with some Skills carrying between runs
- Players who prefer tactical battles built around positioning, hazards and adjustable pacing
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a persistent power curve, since defeat removes acquired powers and returns the Warrior to the First Floor
- Players who prefer passive or purely fast-paced combat, since positioning, Focus management and turn order shape each encounter
- Players looking for large-scale warfare, since the action centers on one Warrior climbing a 50-floor tower
Our take on Evertried
The defining rule is that enemies move only after the player acts, turning every step, attack, dash and pause into a decision about both position and timing.
What is Evertried?
Evertried is an isometric tactical rogue-lite built around grid-based combat and deliberate positioning.
Enemy units move after the player acts, allowing combat to proceed at a chosen pace. Movement, attacks, dashes, skills and hazards can be combined to outmaneuver enemies and clear each floor. Consecutive hits raise Focus Level, which affects shard rewards and unlocks Modifiers, while idling or ordinary movement lowers it. The Tower contains 50 floors across 5 Areas, each ending with a Guardian battle. Shop Floors offer health recovery, Skills and Modifiers in exchange for shards. Losing all health returns the Warrior to the First Floor and removes acquired powers, while mastered Skills carry into later runs.
How Evertried plays
- 01Enemy-triggered turns
- Enemy units act after the player performs an action, allowing movement and attacks to alternate at the player's chosen pace.
- 02Focus Level gauge
- Successive hits raise the gauge for shard rewards and Modifier unlocks, while idling or ordinary movement reduces it.
- 03Dash movement
- The dash covers twice the normal distance and ignores collisions, allowing obstacle traversal or repositioning.
- 04Persistent Skills
- Skills improve and remain available across successive runs, unlike powers lost after defeat.
- 05Tower progression
- The ascent contains 50 floors divided among 5 Areas, with new enemy types and a Guardian battle at each area's end.
- 06Shop Floors
- Shards can be exchanged for health recovery, Skills and Modifiers at designated floors.
Evertried compared to similar games
Shogun Showdown also uses turn-based combat and roguelike progression, but focuses on upgrading attack tiles, combining attacks and building a deck before facing the Shogun. Evertried instead centers on grid positioning, dashes, hazards, Focus Level and a 50-floor tower divided into 5 Areas. Xenonauts covers turn-based strategy through squad control, persistent soldiers and defense against an alien invasion, rather than a single Warrior's repeated ascent.
