Our take on Hunt the Night
Rather than treating action-RPG combat as a single attack loop, the game centers on rapid alternation between melee strikes, ranged weapons, dashes, and dark abilities. Bosses also function as pattern-learning encounters, while equipment choices let builds shift around specific enemies.
What is Hunt the Night?
Play as Vesper, a Stalker crossing the ruined world of Medhram while seeking a way to preserve humanity.
Combat combines rapid melee strikes, ranged weapons, dashes, combos, and dark powers, with switches between close and distant attacks. Boss encounters require learning enemy weaknesses, attack patterns, and changing phases. Equipment upgrades support different builds, including options focused on critical damage, life steal, poison, close combat, or firepower. Exploration leads through dungeons containing traps, puzzles, enemies, and other challenges, across locations such as cathedrals, libraries, lost kingdoms, and floating cities. Optional hunts from Crow’s Nest target powerful creatures and provide rewards that raise health and dark energy. Characters and their histories add context to the setting.

Hunt the Night compared to similar games
Hunt the Night combines dark-fantasy exploration with fast melee and ranged combat, multi-phase bosses, and equipment-based builds. Ghost of a Tale focuses on stealth, disguises, conversations, and exploration in an animal-populated medieval world. Vagante also uses a dark-fantasy setting, but its description centers on adventurers pursuing fame, riches, and power rather than Vesper’s structured hunt through Medhram.
