Our take on Deathbound
Rather than centering combat on one persistent hero, this Soulslike makes a four-member party the main character system. Its combat rhythm comes from changing identities mid-fight and combining their abilities, replacing a single-build progression with group coordination.
What is Deathbound?
Deathbound is a Soulslike action RPG set in Ziêminal, a world combining a technological past with a medieval present.
Players absorb the essences of fallen warriors, gaining their skills, memories, identities, and combat styles. A party of four can be assembled, with members changing instantly during exploration and combat. Talent trees shape the party’s playstyle, while each warrior’s former affiliation affects their synergy with others. Switching between characters enables Morphstrikes, which combine different attack styles into powerful combinations and finishing blows. The game features Akratya, a city falling into ruin beneath a grand crusade, with body-filled streets, arenas, and places of worship. Its enemies draw on the five stages of grief and are intended to provide challenging encounters.
