Our take on Starward Rogue
The store page foregrounds the large enemy, item, and room counts, but the core experience remains repeated roguelite combat runs. Its scope is presented through quantities and mod support rather than a story campaign or exploration-focused structure.
What is Starward Rogue?
Starward Rogue is a bullet-hell twin-stick shooter set in the Megalith, a labyrinth embedded in a star.
Players control a head housed in a mech and fight through roguelite catacombs that change as runs succeed. The game includes 9 starting mechs with different abilities, 5 difficulty levels, and more than 350 items spanning weapons, consumables, and passive upgrades. Runs feature over 150 regular enemies, more than 10 minibosses, over 20 bosses, and 500-plus rooms, including survival areas. A perk system shapes each run's build, while shops provide upgrades. Keyboard-and-mouse and gamepad controls are supported. Mod tools allow creation of enemies, items, weapons, and rooms.
