Our take on Shattered Haven
Its puzzle-and-story structure trades simple replay sessions for a heavier commitment to level progression and narrative variation. The editor adds creative scope, but also makes the experience less focused than a game built only around its campaign.
What is Shattered Haven?
Shattered Haven is an environmental puzzle game set nine years after altered animals and failing terrain have upended human society.
Players lead Darrell, Mary, and other Williams family members through almost 100 individually made stages, selecting tools, weapons, and traps to eliminate dangerous Grays while working against the clock. Optional tasks provide score bonuses and gold markers, and difficulty choices span casual through hardcore play. The family’s story unfolds through in-game scenes and painted visuals, with decisions opening different narrative conclusions. Local cooperative play supports two participants through gamepads, keyboard controls, or a mixture of both. A built-in editor allows players to design stages, story scenes, and full-length adventures.
