Our take on Prey: Typhon Hunter
The clearest sticking point is the split between modes: the multiplayer match hinges on one survivor facing five shape-shifting hunters, while the employee campaign requires VR. Players seeking a single shared format may hit a wall when choosing between those setups.
What is Prey: Typhon Hunter?
Prey: Typhon Hunter adds an online hide-and-seek mode in which one player is Morgan Yu and five others are Mimics.
The Mimics can change shape and hide among objects while hunting Morgan, who must try to escape. It also includes TranStar VR, a single-player campaign that requires VR. Players take the roles of TranStar employees, completing objectives and solving puzzles on Talos I shortly before the events of Prey. The Mooncrash campaign is also described: Peter, a hacker aboard a spy satellite, investigates a TranStar moon base while trying to uncover its secrets. Enemies, hazards, objectives, and loot vary between plays. The full Prey game is required.
