Our take on Istanbul: Digital Edition
Rather than giving each action a permanently available worker, the game makes assistants remain at locations until the merchant returns. This turns movement into a resource-management problem, replacing a conventional action menu with a route-planning puzzle.
What is Istanbul: Digital Edition?
Istanbul: Digital Edition adapts a board game about merchants competing to collect rubies.
Each player controls one merchant and four assistants across 16 bazaar locations, with each location offering a specific action. Moving the merchant with an assistant lets the player act, but the assistant remains behind until the merchant returns, making movement and timing central to each turn. Players gather and exchange goods, expand wheelbarrow capacity, acquire special abilities, and buy or trade for rubies. Games support AI opponents, friends, or mixed groups, with pass-and-play and cross-platform online multiplayer in synchronous and asynchronous modes. Boards can be preset or randomly generated, while AI opponents offer three difficulty levels with distinct strategies.
