Our take on HyperParasite
Instead of keeping players in one hero throughout a run, the game makes body theft its central progression loop. Each host changes the available attacks, while procedural streets and permadeath replace the fixed levels and dependable retries common in action games.
What is HyperParasite?
Play as an alien Parasite that takes control of human hosts, each providing a distinct attack style.
Fight through five procedurally generated Acts set in an eighties-inspired dystopia, defeat host-class bosses, and recover their brains. Collected hosts can be unlocked with currency and stored for use in later runs. A run ends in permadeath after the Parasite is killed, unless upgrades have been found. The game combines twin-stick shooting with brawling, exploration, secrets, boss encounters, and a changing roguelite map. Local co-op allows two players to fight together. A synthwave soundtrack accompanies the action.
How HyperParasite plays
- 01Host Possession
- The Parasite can take over more than 60 characters, with each host offering a different offensive ability.
- 02Procedural Acts
- Five Acts use procedurally generated streets and roguelite maps, changing the routes and encounters between runs.
- 03Persistent Host Storage
- Unlocked characters can be kept in a storage unit and selected in later games.
- 04Local Co-op
- Two players can participate together in local cooperative play.
- 05Permadeath Runs
- A run ends when the Parasite is killed, except when upgrades provide another chance.
