Our take on Gimmick! 2
The store presentation gives substantial space to the series' 8-bit history and the soundtrack's creators. The playable pitch is narrower: a platformer built around one bouncing, momentum-preserving star, with puzzles, enemies, secrets, and two challenge modes.
What is Gimmick! 2?
Gimmick!
2 is an action-adventure platformer starring Yumetaro, a green yokai returning for a new quest. Its levels combine puzzles, enemies, hidden treasures, shortcuts, and physics-based exploration. Yumetaro can summon a star that bounces, preserves the momentum of his movement, activates switches, attacks enemies, and carries him toward distant locations. Players can experiment with the star to uncover secrets or set speed records. The game offers an assisted mode with a friendlier challenge and a mode intended to remain closer to the original Gimmick! experience. Its soundtrack includes new compositions and rearranged older themes by David Wise, with creative direction from Pelle Cahndlerby and live recording in Sweden with Joel Bille.

- 03Two Challenge Modes

- 04New And Rearranged Music
- David Wise contributed fresh melodies and reworked versions of earlier themes to the soundtrack.
Gimmick! 2 compared to similar games
Gimmick! 2 centers on platforming puzzles and a throwable star whose bouncing physics support movement, combat, switches, and secret hunting. Jusant instead focuses on climbing a tall tower with climbing tools and stamina management, while Sundered: Eldritch Edition is presented as a chaotic metroidvania rather than a physics-driven platformer.
