Our take on Astrox: Hostile Space Excavation
The core loop begins with a basic mining setup: gather asteroid ore, decide whether to refine or trade it, and use the proceeds to develop the ship while moving through generated star systems.
What is Astrox: Hostile Space Excavation?
Starting in a mining sector with a basic ship, laser, and mining beam, players gather asteroids and choose whether to sell or refine the ore.
Trading also covers refined components and other goods. The proceeds can go toward ship upgrades as players travel through procedurally generated star systems linked by warp gates and pursue pirates. The game includes 7 asteroid types, 33 ships, 144 modules and items, generated missions and events, and 24 trainable skills with 100 levels each. Players can customize galaxies, clear pirate hideouts, explore the space between star systems, and continue in a new galaxy after securing one. Camera control is fully three-dimensional.
