Our take on Drifter
The enormous galaxy is the headline feature, but the listing gives less emphasis to the smaller set of named activities that define play: trading, bounty hunting, asteroid mining, and piracy. The scale is explicit; the day-to-day variety is presented mainly through those four roles.
What is Drifter?
Drifter is an open-world space trading game set in a procedurally generated galaxy spanning 100,000 light years and containing tens of thousands of star systems.
Players captain a spaceship and choose how to make a living among the stars. Activities include transporting goods between systems, pursuing pirates for bounties, extracting valuable ore from asteroids, and operating as a pirate. The game presents these activities within a sandbox structure, allowing different roles rather than a single fixed career path. Its soundtrack was composed by Danny Baranowsky.
