Our take on USC: Counterforce
The point where some players may hit a wall is the campaign layer: tactical missions are paired with base management, faction reputation requests, and relay-station defense. Players who want to focus only on squad combat may find that added responsibility interrupts the mission-to-mission flow.
What is USC: Counterforce?
USC: Counterforce is a turn-based squad tactics game about commandos investigating an alien threat on the planetary body M-8322.
Its campaign follows a player-created commander leading a fleet through a procedurally generated, multi-ended story. Players manage surface bases, handle faction requests that affect their reputation, and defend relay stations connecting the fleet to Earth. Squad preparation includes character attributes and skills, weapons, gadgets, armor, and upgrades. Combat uses melee and ranged weapons, ammunition types, hacking tools, mines, turrets, and other deployables.
Environments can be altered or destroyed: barricades, traps, hazards, airlocks, and walls can shape encounters, and enemies can use these capabilities too. Other modes include customizable single missions, multi-mission operations, and outpost defense. Multiplayer supports local co-op and Steam Remote Play Together.
