Is Space Prison worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players of turn-based tactical survival games who want fights alongside prison escape planning.
- RPG players interested in building relationships with inmate characters and learning their stories.
- Strategy players who want gang progression, squad management, and crafting tied to escape.
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want combat without turn-based brawls may find the fight structure a poor match.
- Players who prefer a fixed character identity may dislike returning in a new body after death.
- Players looking for a puzzle-focused escape game may find the focus on combat, crafting, and gang hierarchy mismatched.
Our take on Space Prison
Players who want each death to reset the run may hit a wall at the recovery system: a new body takes over, but the cell and concealed contraband carry on.
What is Space Prison?
Survive inside a prison facility in a turn-based game focused on tactics and survival.
Select a prisoner based on one of three races and a set of criminal abilities, then enter one of two gangs and advance through its hierarchy. Search the facility and battle inmates using abilities, companions, makeshift weapons, and protective gear. Form connections with as many as 18 prisoners, uncover their histories, and complete tasks to obtain knowledge and supplies. Gather scrap and wreck prison fixtures to make equipment, while hiding illegal goods during inspections. Improve a cell and direct a squad that can include space rats in conflicts over supplies and status. After death, continue in another body with the cell and stashed contraband preserved.
How Space Prison plays
- 01Gang progression
- Choose between Gravity Fist and Hypernova, then fight to advance through the hierarchy and access a gang hideout.
- 02Inmate relationships
- Build respect with up to 18 inmates, learn their stories, and take jobs that provide information and materials.
- 03Concealed contraband
- Craft equipment from scavenged materials and hide it from security checkpoints.
- 04Death recovery
- After death, the prisoner returns in a different body while the cell and hidden items remain.
