RPGIs Shovel Knight Dig worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Action-platforming fans who want a downward digging route through changing levels
- Players who enjoy pursuing upgrades and riches across repeated runs
- Shovel Knight fans seeking an additional standalone adventure with quests and expansions
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a fixed, identical level route each time may hit a wall when crafted sections are recombined into changing layouts.
- Players seeking a relaxed pace may find the repeated jumping, slashing, and descent-focused digging a poor match.
- Players looking for chess, auto-battler, or neighborhood exploration gameplay will find those activities are not part of this adventure.
Our take on Shovel Knight Dig
The likely bounce point is the repeated descent through changing levels: players who want a fixed route may lose their footing when sections are recombined. After the main adventure, Knightmare Mode adds another challenge, so players seeking a single, low-pressure run may also stop there.
What is Shovel Knight Dig?
After Drill Knight and his crew steal Shovel Knight’s loot and destroy his campsite, Shovel Knight pursues them underground.
The game combines jumping and slashing with a Shovel Drop and Speed Shovel digging as players descend through levels assembled from crafted sections using generation techniques. Riches found underground can be used to unlock permanent items and upgrades. The adventure includes quests, characters, enemies, bosses, Relics, and secrets. Two expansions add further content: Wicked Wishes introduces quests, guild ranks, Relics, buffs, bosses, and enemies, while Fate and Fortune adds Knightmare Mode after the main adventure and Mementos for display in the hub. The game features pixel graphics, animated effects, and a soundtrack by Jake Kaufman.
