Our take on Becoming Saint
Rather than framing a strategy campaign around military expansion alone, the game makes conversion and religious leadership part of territorial conquest. Its roguelike structure also allows a failed attempt to lead into a new incarnation, instead of ending the overall pursuit.
What is Becoming Saint?
Choose a doctrine and lead followers across medieval Italy in a real-time strategy roguelike.
Recruit from as many as 16 unit types, each with distinct strengths, weaknesses, abilities, and synergies. March selected forces into small-scale battles, use terrain, and apply blessings or curses; direct control of units is also available. Decisions during each run shape political and spiritual traits, with effects on followers, the economy, and conversion strategy. The goal is to convert city-states and reach sainthood. If a run ends in death, a new incarnation brings further challenges and strategies. Set in 14th-century Italy, the game combines military conquest with choices about belief and leadership.
