Play it if you…

Skip it if you…

- Players who want varied mission structures may find repeated combat against enemy waves limiting.
- Players looking for a multiplayer shooter will not find multiplayer listed among the features.
Our take on Truxton
The likely sticking point is the repeated stage-by-stage shooting loop: players looking for a wider range of activities may lose interest once the combat pattern sets in. Very Easy mode and auto-fire adjust the challenge, but they do not change the game’s core structure.
What is Truxton?
Truxton is a vertically scrolling arcade shooter in which a pilot uses an assault ship to battle alien forces and destroy asteroid bases across large stages.
Its weapons include the Truxton Beam, Power Shot, and Thunder Laser, and each weapon type can be upgraded repeatedly. This PC version includes arcade-style emulation, quick saves, rewind, and online leaderboards for Single Credit, No Assist, and Assisted play. A beginner mode lowers the difficulty, while assist options include auto-fire at several rates. Practice mode offers customizable settings. Players can also capture replays, view extra gameplay information on instrument panels, and choose display scaling and screen rotation options.
How Truxton plays
- 01Three weapon styles
- The Truxton Beam, Power Shot, and Thunder Laser each provide a different weapon option against incoming enemies.
- 02Weapon upgrades
- Each weapon type can be upgraded repeatedly to increase its destructive power.
- 03Quick saves and rewind
- Save states use F1–F10, with Shift plus the matching key to reload, and rewind can cover 10–18 minutes depending on the action.
- 04Online leaderboards
- Scores are tracked separately for Single Credit, No Assist, and Assisted play.
- 05Practice mode
- Customizable practice settings provide a separate way to work on gameplay skills.
- 06Beginner and assist options
- Very Easy difficulty and auto-fire settings provide alternatives to the standard challenge.
