Our take on The Royal Writ
Permanent card loss gives individual units lasting consequences within a run, but it also removes cards that reach the enemy base before victory. The design trades roster stability for stories shaped by sacrifice and changing deck composition.
What is The Royal Writ?
The Royal Writ mixes deck construction with tactical battlefield placement.
Deploy animal troops and direct their movement toward an opposing stronghold, where they inflict damage. Any card that arrives there before the battle ends is lost from the deck for the remainder of that run. Relics, card powers, terrain dangers, bosses, and chance encounters influence each attempt. Two campaigns offer separate scenarios: one centers on an uprising amid chasms and toxic marshes, while the other adds firearms and bullet volleys. Both campaigns contain their own cards, bosses, and tactical barriers. Roguelike progression increases the difficulty over time, with optional challenge modes that impose unusual rules. The roster features animals including flamingos, chickens, lizards, ants, lambs, and other eccentric characters.
