Our take on Sundered®: Eldritch Edition
The store emphasis on hand-drawn presentation and genre labels understates how much the game revolves around repeated deaths, procedural areas, and post-death upgrades. Its more than 15-hour estimate also sits beside multiple endings and hundreds of upgrades, making the scope less straightforward than a single linear campaign.
What is Sundered®: Eldritch Edition?
Sundered: Eldritch Edition is a hand-drawn metroidvania built around exploration, combat, death, and character upgrades.
Eshe travels through changing caverns, returning to previously visited areas as new abilities reveal additional paths, secrets, and regions. Procedurally generated sections combine with handcrafted level elements, while dynamically spawned enemies create repeated combat encounters. Melee battles include large boss fights, and corrupted relics offer power at a cost to Eshe’s humanity. After death, Eshe returns to the Hub to improve stats, perks, and special abilities. The game includes hundreds of upgrades, multiple character builds, multiple endings, and more than 15 hours of gameplay. Local cooperative play supports up to four players, with added areas, a quest chain, and the Magnate of the Gong boss.
