We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy alternating between settlement defense and direct combat
- Fans of side-scrolling action who want combat with swords, shields, and magic
- Strategy players interested in growing villages while defending them from monster attacks
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for a single, uninterrupted gameplay style may find the shifts between settlement management and action combat distracting
- Those seeking a purely open-ended settlement builder may find the focus on defending tribes and clearing monster lairs restrictive
- Players who want cooperative multiplayer rather than a game centered on guiding tribes and controlling Helios
Our take on SolSeraph
The defining structure alternates between managing tribal settlements from a top-down view and entering exposed lairs for side-scrolling combat as Helios.
What is SolSeraph?
SolSeraph combines top-down settlement management with side-scrolling combat.
Guide tribes as they expand their territory and clear the dark fog, placing homes and farms to support population growth and barracks and archer towers to resist monster attacks. When a creature’s lair is revealed, take control of Helios and enter it to fight with a sword, shield, and magical archery. Enemies include goblins, beastmen, and bat riders; defeating them can grant abilities such as healing herbs and ice shards. The game moves between building up settlements and exploring locations including floating islands, ancient caverns, and lost cities, with the goal of confronting the Younger God behind the monsters.
How SolSeraph plays
- 01Settlement defense
- Homes and farms support growing populations, while barracks and archer towers help tribes withstand monster waves.
- 02Lair combat
- After a lair is uncovered, Helios enters it to battle monsters using a sword, shield, and magical archery.
- 03Earned magic
- Defeating foes can grant Helios abilities such as healing herbs and ice shards.
SolSeraph compared to similar games
SolSeraph alternates between settlement building and side-scrolling lair combat, while Anomaly: Warzone Earth reverses the tower-defense setup and focuses on confronting an alien invasion. Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is a cooperative action RPG and tower-defense game with loot, leveling, pets, and character customization, rather than SolSeraph’s tribe-management and Helios combat structure.
