Play it if you…
Good fit- Action-RPG players who want a story set around yakuza conflict in modern Japan

- Story-focused players who want optional nightlife activities alongside the main plot
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly focused combat game may find the story and city activities interrupt the fighting

- Players using Yakuza Kiwami (Legacy) save data cannot carry that data into this edition
Our take on Yakuza Kiwami
The broad city setting trades a purely combat-driven pace for story scenes and optional activities. Players move between fights, narrative developments, and diversions such as karaoke or arcade games, so the experience gives up constant combat focus in favor of a fuller urban setting.
What is Yakuza Kiwami?
Follow Kazuma Kiryu after a 10-year prison sentence leaves him caught between yakuza clans nearing war.
The story centers on a conspiracy in Kamurocho and themes of love, humanity, and betrayal. Combat lets players change among four styles: Brawler, Rush, Beast, and Dragon. Improvised weapons found in the streets can be used against groups of enemies. Outside the main story, Kamurocho offers activities including karaoke, a casino, a cabaret club, an arcade, and batting cages, alongside encounters with various characters. This edition includes additional text languages compared with Yakuza Kiwami (Legacy), but save data from that version does not transfer.
