Our take on Shores Unknown
Rather than placing tactical combat on a grid, battles use an order phase followed by a separate action phase. That structure makes command selection and character movement distinct parts of each encounter.
What is Shores Unknown?
Shores Unknown is a turn-based RPG about a mercenary company caught on the wrong side of the Crown.
As its new leader, the player travels through the Murk in search of answers, explores unfamiliar places, meets characters, and forms alliances. Combat is gridless and unfolds in two stages: first, players assess the situation and issue orders; then characters move and carry them out. Character development responds to equipment and combat choices, which shape the skills learned and classes unlocked. The story follows a struggle for survival and liberty amid the Crown, its Inquisition, a southern empire at war, and the dangerous fog to the north. The world uses a low-poly visual style.
