ActionIs Shift Happens worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Friends who want cooperative platforming and puzzle solving rather than a solo-only game
- Solo players seeking platforming stages made specifically for one player rather than the main two-player experience
- Pairs who enjoy local or online teamwork with occasional competition rather than strictly cooperative play
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a mainly solo campaign, since the game is primarily intended for two people
- Players who want one shared level set across modes, because single-player play uses different content
- Players looking for platforming without optional challenges, achievements, or time trials
Our take on Shift Happens
The two-player focus makes coordination central, but it also makes the main cooperative content less suitable for solo play. A separate single-player mode provides an alternative, though it uses different levels rather than adapting the cooperative stages.
What is Shift Happens?
Shift Happens is a platform game centered on two-player cooperation, with local and online play plus a single-player mode containing different level content.
Bismo and Plom can exchange their size and abilities, allowing players to navigate obstacles, solve puzzles, and throw one another through four settings: a laboratory, forests, canyons, and caves. The game includes over 40 levels for cooperative play, more than 30 levels for single-player mode, and 8 unlockable bonus levels divided between the two modes. Stages also contain optional challenges and rewards, achievements, and time challenges.
Cooperation involves coordination and communication, while players can also compete over coins or occasionally turn against each other. The separate single-player content allows the game to be played without a second person.
