Our take on Once Upon A Puppet
The theatrical presentation and character drama receive prominent attention, while the core play is a conventional combination of platforming, puzzles, exploration, and encounters with hostile creatures.
What is Once Upon A Puppet?
Once Upon A Puppet follows Drev, a puppet, and Nieve, an exiled stagehand, as they travel from the Understage toward the Frontstage.
Nieve controls Drev’s strings while the pair moves through a theater-themed kingdom shaped by past and present stages. Platforming, puppet-based movement, creative puzzles, and encounters with hostile creatures form the core play. Players can reposition props, scenery, and characters to reconstruct theatrical scenes and reveal the history of the World Stage. The story focuses on Drev and Nieve’s relationship, their search for a place in the theater, and secrets connected to the kingdom. The game includes dozens of major and supporting characters, hundreds of lines of dialogue, 2D cutscenes, collectible items, theatrical music, and sound effects.
