Our take on The Occultist
The pitch emphasizes a paranormal investigation, but the described play centers on exploration, stealth, and puzzles. Alan avoids direct combat, so the action framing does not imply a combat-focused experience.
What is The Occultist?
The Occultist is a first-person narrative thriller about Alan Rebels, a paranormal investigator searching for his missing father on Godstone, an abandoned British island.
The island was home to a cult that conducted experiments and rituals before it was deserted in 1950. Alan explores its streets and buildings, investigates lingering spirits, and can avoid hostile entities rather than fight them directly. A mystical pendulum lets him interact with and alter the environment through four mechanics. Progress combines stealth, puzzles, and paranormal detective work, ranging from straightforward challenges to puzzles requiring occult knowledge. The story follows Alan’s search for answers as he encounters supernatural forces and investigates the island’s past.
