Our take on Magnifico
The focus on regional control, auctions, and military planning leaves less room for lighter or more direct play. Progress also depends on balancing economic choices with combat risks, including the possibility of tanks exploding.
What is Magnifico?
Magnifico is a region-based strategy game set in 16th-century Europe.
Players position troops, build fortifications, invade bordering regions, and earn Victory Points through territories, castles, technologies, and special actions. Auctions offer Leonardo da Vinci’s inventions, including cannons, flying machines, bombards, tanks, submarines, and armored ships. Infantry, tanks, and aircraft can receive technology upgrades that affect reliability and combat power, while battles carry risks such as exploding tanks. Single-player matches support up to three AI opponents selected from 10 characters with different play styles. The game includes an in-game tutorial, a detailed manual, and language options covering English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Russian, and Chinese.
