Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a short, low-planning game may bounce off the auction and grid-expansion decisions.
- Players who want a largely varied action experience may find repeated matches centered on power plants, maps and energy markets too structured.
- Players looking for a puzzle, party game or action-focused experience
Our take on Power Grid
The likely bounce point is the auction-and-expansion system: players must weigh power plants, energy production and map positioning throughout a match. Anyone wanting a quick, low-decision session may lose interest once those connected strategic choices become the main rhythm.
What is Power Grid?
Power Grid is a strategy game about building and managing an energy network across maps including the USA, Germany, France, Benelux, Eastern Europe, South Africa, Italy and the Middle East.
Players bid in power plant auctions, choose production options and expand their grids across different regions. The game includes AI opponents, online matches with friends or other players, and both real-time and turn-based play. A tutorial introduces the basic rules, while context-sensitive help is available during games. The Recharged version adds the Against the Trust and MAGA variants. Achievements provide additional objectives, and map variants allow different strategic setups. An optional add-on adds four maps and two power plant decks through the in-game shop.
