- Those who prefer many maps and scenarios may find the choice of two boards restrictive
- Players looking for a solo-only game may not enjoy its two-sided contest
Our take on King and Assassins
The hidden-assassin setup gives the contest its tension, but keeps play centered on a single opposing player and a small set of boards. That focus leaves less room for broader scenario variety or a longer strategic arc.
What is King and Assassins?
King & Assassins is a two-player strategy game about getting the King safely to his castle or stopping him.
One player controls the King and his soldiers; the other controls a mob of citizens and secretly selects three of the 12 citizens as would-be assassins before play begins. Each side receives a set number of Action Points each turn to move the King, guards, and citizens. Soldiers can push back the crowd, while the assassins remain among its members. Play against the computer, take turns on one device in Pass & Play, or compete in online duels. Two boards are available: the Market and the Alley of Shadows. Characters are shown in a 3D environment.
