RPGIs Inquisitor worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- RPG players who want open-ended isometric exploration and separate class storylines
- Players interested in investigations, trials, and morally dark religious themes
- Fans of large fantasy equipment and spell selections who accept a text-heavy campaign
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly guided campaign may find the open-ended structure diffuse
- Players who prefer light themes may find the focus on torture, madness, damnation, and heresy too bleak
- Players looking for a short, lightly narrated RPG may not want a campaign advertised with more than 5,000 pages of text
Our take on Inquisitor
The store presentation foregrounds combat, world size, and large content counts, while the core play also involves extensive reading, evidence gathering, trials, and interrogations. That investigative and text-heavy structure may matter as much as the action systems when assessing the game.
What is Inquisitor?
Inquisitor is an isometric RPG set in Ultherst, a land devastated by famine, plague, and fire.
Players investigate offenses against the faith, gather evidence, conduct trials, and interrogate suspected heretics. Combat is action-oriented, while exploration covers 34 surface locations and 37 dungeon complexes, including multilevel areas. Three classes—Paladin, Priest, and Thief—have separate storylines. The game includes more than 200 weapons, 80 spells, and seven schools of magic. Character equipment changes are represented through almost one million sprites. The deluxe edition adds three PDF books or artbooks and a 38-track soundtrack lasting two hours.
