- Players looking for a non-mythological setting may not fit the Greek gods, monsters and heroes premise
Our take on Numen: Contest of Heroes
The defining structure is a contest among nine hero-and-deity pairings: character selection determines the champion competing through a mythological pilgrimage, while divine approval governs access to granted powers.
What is Numen: Contest of Heroes?
Numen: Contest of Heroes is a three-dimensional action RPG set in a Greek mythological world.
Players choose one of nine heroes, select a gender and one of three specializations, and follow one of nine deities. The journey crosses 12 islands, including mountains, valleys, forests, deserts, exterior areas and underground labyrinths. Combat involves choosing weapons, identifying enemy weaknesses and adapting to battlefield conditions, with powers granted by the selected god. The game includes main and side quests, more than 80 spells and abilities, weapons, armor and other items. Arena duels, training fights and tournaments provide additional combat activities alongside the story.

Numen: Contest of Heroes compared to similar games
Numen: Contest of Heroes combines action combat, hero specialization and deity selection across a 12-island mythological setting. Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition centers on an unconventional story and exploration of a strange city, while Back to the Dawn focuses on investigation, survival and escape from a maximum-security prison. Tales of Symphonia presents a broader survival adventure involving two interlocked worlds rather than Numen's deity-based contest.
