Our take on The Occult Detective
The focus on deduction and unscripted text interrogation comes with a trade-off: progress depends on reading, evidence management, and reasoning rather than conventional action or fixed dialogue choices.
What is The Occult Detective?
Play as a novice investigator for the Agency of Investigating the Bizarre, handling murders, artifacts, and forbidden powers in a supernatural setting.
The game combines detective fiction with visual-novel storytelling, asking players to gather evidence, connect clues, rebuild crime scenes, and determine how unusual artifacts work. Interrogations use large language models to generate unscripted NPC dialogue from natural-language text input, allowing suspects to be questioned outside fixed dialogue paths. Physical evidence is used to challenge each suspect's defenses and expose contradictions. The game contains more than 400,000 words of story, with conversations and text logs contributing to its mystery structure. English localization is currently under development, with early testing and feedback organized through the official Discord community.
