- Players seeking the multiplayer shooting described for Abyssus may prefer a game with that stated focus
Our take on INCISION
The extra-lives structure gives each level a focused arcade-like run, but sacrifices checkpoint-based convenience. Losing all available lives sends the stage back to its beginning, making progress depend on sustained performance rather than incremental saves.
What is INCISION?
INCISION is a fast, brutal retro first-person shooter set in industrial mazes, transformed cities, and alien structures consumed by the Growth.
Players cut, shoot, burn, and destroy enemies with ten weapons, each offering an alternate firing mode. The arsenal includes firearms, explosives, incendiary attacks, and a saw-spear for both ranged slashes and close combat. Enemies include augmented soldiers, sawblade-wielding followers, missile-firing Spiderpopes, and ancient entities from beyond the world. Movement is fast, while the story remains secondary to gameplay, with mysteries available for players who seek them. Levels contain extra lives but no checkpoints or quicksaves. Running out of lives restarts the level, and each stage must be completed in one attempt.
How INCISION plays
- 01Alternate Weapon Modes
- Each of the ten weapons has a secondary attack, including incendiary bombs, machine-gun grenades, and different saw-spear ranges.
- 02Extra Lives System
- Additional lives are placed throughout levels, giving players more attempts before a level restart.
- 03Industrial Horror World
- Factories, altered cityscapes, and alien structures form maze-like environments overtaken by flesh and machinery.
- 04Varied Enemy Roster
- Opponents include energy-rifle soldiers, ricocheting sawblade users, missile-launching Spiderpopes, and otherworldly creatures.
- 05Metal Horror Soundtrack
- The game includes an album-length soundtrack combining atmospheric horror ambience with metal.
