Fit check
Is Dunjungle worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Roguelite players who want repeated runs with changing dungeon layouts
- Action players who enjoy experimenting with classes and equipment combinations
- Players who prefer short restart-and-retry loops over checkpoint-based progression
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a continuous campaign with checkpoints rather than repeated runs that reset on death
- Players who want a compact, predetermined loadout rather than selecting from 15 classes and a collection of over 30 primary weapons, 40 secondary weapons, and 100 relics
- Players looking for climbing puzzles, as in Jusant
- Players specifically seeking multiplayer shooting, as in Abyssus
Our take on Dunjungle
The store presentation puts substantial emphasis on the number of weapons, subweapons, relics, and classes, while the core structure remains a no-checkpoint loop where death restarts the run. The variety supports experimentation, but it does not change the repeated-reset format.
What is Dunjungle?
Dunjungle is a 2D action roguelite focused on repeated expeditions through changing dungeon layouts.
Seven biomes contain temples, crypts, foes, hazards, loot, and bosses. Before each attempt, players select one of 15 classes and assemble gear from over 30 weapons, 40 secondary weapons, and 100 relics, including fire, ice, thunder, and wind effects. Items may be combined into altered forms. Runs have no checkpoints, so dying means starting again, although certain discoveries and freed characters persist. Hand-built room designs are arranged into varied dungeons, while rescued characters may provide aid during future attempts.
How Dunjungle plays
- 01Procedural dungeon runs
- Seven biomes use changing layouts assembled from handcrafted rooms containing enemies, traps, treasures, and bosses.
- 02Class-based playstyles
- Fifteen selectable classes provide different strengths and weaknesses for each run.
- 03Elemental equipment
- Weapons, spells, and relics can apply fire, ice, thunder, or wind effects.
- 04Gear combinations
- Equipment can be merged with multiple elements to produce new versions.
- 05Persistent unlocks
- Some weapons, spells, and rescued characters remain available after a character dies.
Dunjungle compared to similar games
Dunjungle uses procedurally assembled jungle dungeons, class selection, elemental equipment, and repeated runs with persistent unlocks. Sundered: Eldritch Edition is described as a chaotic metroidvania, while Abyssus focuses on multiplayer shooting through handcrafted levels with weapons modified by ancient technologies.
