SimulationIs I Fetch Rocks worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- VR players who enjoy assembling and rewiring spacecraft systems
- Simulation fans who want to pilot ships and tow asteroids under contract
- Players who like maintaining and adapting machinery as components wear down
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a low-maintenance flight experience may find the need to repair and reconfigure failing ship systems demanding.
- Those who prefer a fixed control scheme may not enjoy building and wiring the ship's operating layout.
- Players without VR hardware are not a fit for a game built exclusively for VR.
Our take on I Fetch Rocks
The configurable ship systems come with a maintenance trade-off: radiation and cosmic rays degrade components, so hauling work also requires learning, repairing, and reworking the machinery. That upkeep is part of the core loop rather than a separate optional activity.
What is I Fetch Rocks?
Take work hauling mineral-rich asteroids from the belt between Jupiter and Mars to a mining facility.
Begin with a basic ship, earn credits, and use them to upgrade, customise, and repair it while taking on larger, harder contracts. Ship controls and operations can be arranged through a node-based system of components, either by changing a pre-fitted layout or building one from scratch. Connect components with cables that carry power or data, then use the resulting controls to fly and tow asteroids.
Radiation and cosmic rays wear down ship components, so the work also involves learning how the systems fit together and rearranging, rewiring, or reprogramming them as they fail. The game is built exclusively for VR and uses hand interaction for ship construction, wiring, and flight.
How I Fetch Rocks plays
- 01Modifiable ship systems
- Single-purpose modules can be repositioned, changed, or removed to create a control layout.
- 02Power and data wiring
- Red cables represent power distribution, while green cables carry data from controls and sensors.
- 03Degrading components
- Radiation and cosmic rays wear down ship parts, requiring repairs and changes to the system setup.
- 04Contract progression
- Credits earned from the work can go toward upgrades, customisation, and repairs as contracts grow harder.
