Our take on How 2 Escape
The split-device structure makes communication essential, but it also requires two participants with separate devices to exchange information continuously while each wagon’s time conditions apply.
What is How 2 Escape?
How 2 Escape is a two-player escape simulation built around asymmetrical play and separate devices.
One player controls Emy on a PC, exploring a speeding train and interacting with its environment. The second player uses the free companion app on iOS or Android to receive information and work out how to guide Emy. Together, players communicate while solving puzzles involving logic, coordination, observation, and listening. Each train wagon has its own time conditions, and running out of time means defeat. Waiting also makes it harder to see clearly. Emy must move through the carriages and reach the locomotive’s brake lever to stop the train.
How How 2 Escape plays
- 01Asymmetrical two-player play
- One player explores the train on PC while the other supports that player through a separate mobile app.
- 02Mobile companion app

- 03Timed train carriages
- The wagons introduce different time conditions, and the session ends in defeat when time runs out.
- 04Communication-based puzzles
- Puzzle solving combines logic, coordination, observation, listening, and information shared between both players.
