We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…

- Fans of resource management involving food, water, medication and fuel
- Players who want survival difficulty affected by both physical condition and state of mind
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a broad survival sandbox may find the experience constrained to one stranded-lake emergency.
- Players who prefer consistent conditions may dislike sudden temperature changes, poor visibility and injury risks.
- Players looking for a relaxed pace may find the focus on health, supplies and worsening mental state too demanding.
Our take on ICED
The rescue-focused structure gives up a broader survival journey in favor of immediate pressure. Most decisions concern staying near shelter, finding basic supplies and coping with weather or injury, leaving less room for goals beyond enduring the emergency.
What is ICED?
A winter fisherman becomes stranded on a frozen lake after a snowstorm breaks the ice and cuts off his route to shore.
With an empty burner and a cold tent, he must survive until a chopper carrying a rescue team arrives. The player monitors health indicators and searches possessions left by other fishermen for food, water, medication and burner gas. Dreams introduce challenges that affect the protagonist’s spirit and state of mind.
As that condition worsens, survival becomes harder and the challenges grow more complex. Sudden temperature drops, poor visibility and extreme cold make travel away from the tent dangerous. Running or jumping can also cause a fall and injury, preventing the protagonist from gathering what he needs to stay alive.
How ICED plays
- 01Health management
- The protagonist’s health indicators require monitoring during the wait for rescue.
- 02Supply scavenging
- Food, water, medication and burner gas can be found among possessions left by other fishermen.
- 03Mental-state challenges

- 04Unstable weather
- Unexpected temperature drops and poor visibility increase the danger of leaving the tent.
- 05Injury risks
- Falls during running or jumping can leave the protagonist unable to gather supplies.
ICED compared to similar games
