Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a relaxed survival loop may hit a wall when wetness, wind, cold, hunger, and sleep affect the character at once.
- Players seeking combat-focused progression may find the focus on scavenging, shelter building, fire management, and cooking too narrow.
- Players who do not want to monitor several character conditions may struggle when sleep deprivation can cause unconsciousness.
- Players looking for survival crafting outside an Arctic island setting may find the setting restrictive.
Our take on Arctic Anxiety
The bounce point comes when several survival conditions interact: wetness speeds cooling, sleep loss can cause unconsciousness, and other conditions continue to decline during sleep. Players who prefer to manage one clear priority may hit a wall at this point.
What is Arctic Anxiety?
After a cargo-plane pilot makes a hard landing on the Arctic Ocean, the player reaches a small group of islands in a life raft.
Survival involves collecting cargo from the water and shore, then using found materials to craft items, fuel fires, and build rafts, shelters, and bases. Hunting and cooking provide food, while rain, wind, nighttime cold, and exposure affect the character. Several linked conditions require management: health, cold, thirst, wetness, hunger, stamina, oxygen, carried weight, and sleep. Rest restores maximum stamina, but sleep deprivation can cause unconsciousness while other conditions continue to decline. Fires and shelters offer ways to manage the environment.
