Our take on Wild Bastards
The store gives prominent space to rapid shootouts, but the game also requires selecting crew members, managing resources, and handling relationships across planets. Its action framing can understate how much of the experience takes place between battles.
What is Wild Bastards?
Wild Bastards combines roguelike strategy with first-person shooting in a tactical campaign.
Players travel between procedurally generated planets, recruit and manage 13 outlaws, gather resources, and choose which characters to deploy based on terrain, enemies, and planetary traits. Each outlaw has distinct weapons, special powers, relationships, and a growth tree. Planetary encounters lead to short shootouts against enemies that use cover, flanking, and special attacks. Resources can heal injured gang members, improve relationships, and support character progression. The story concerns the gang’s attempt to find and resurrect dead members while fleeing toward the Homestead. After the main campaign, Challenge Mode adds sectors with increasing difficulty and mutators that modify the play experience.

Wild Bastards compared to similar games
Wild Bastards combines first-person shooting with roguelike strategy, outlaw management, character development, and procedurally generated planets. Anomaly: Warzone Earth also mixes action and strategy, but its description centers on a reversed tower-defense structure involving cities and large defensive turrets.
