Our take on Overthrown
The defining mechanic is the crown’s ability to lift and reposition almost anything, turning construction, resource gathering, and enemy encounters into physical interactions.
What is Overthrown?
Overthrown is a chaotic city-building game in which a monarch establishes a kingdom in dangerous wilderness.
Buildings can be placed, moved, and used to organize citizen-run production. The crown grants unusual physical abilities, including lifting trees, workshops, monster nests, and other objects to gather resources or manipulate battles. Kingdom management covers farming, food storage, pollution, citizen happiness, and seasonal survival. Bandits and mutants threaten settlements, while players can use movement and spinning attacks to rescue villagers or reach enemies. Fame attracts new citizens as well as hostile forces. The game supports offline single-player and online co-op for groups of up to six, with players defending and developing the settlement together.
How Overthrown plays
- 01Object-based resource work
- The monarch can carry items such as trees and production buildings to collect materials or change their placement.
- 02Citizen-run production
- Placed structures can be managed so inhabitants handle settlement tasks.
- 03Seasonal kingdom management
- Farming, food reserves, pollution, and public morale must be managed through changing seasons.
- 04Enemy camp manipulation
- Monster nests can be moved close to bandit camps so hostile groups attack each other.
- 05Single-player and co-op
- The game supports offline solo play and online groups of up to six players.
